Fun & NO Fun

I managed to sleep pretty well last night, which hasn't been happening often lately.  Brielle woke me up at 4:30 and 5:00am though, wanting me to 'fix' her blanket because it wasn't straight on her bed.  Oye.  Then Joshua woke up at 6:45am.  If only kids had a 'snooze' button, I would've hit it a few times this morning.  Despite only waking up three times last night (one for the bathroom, 2 for Brielle) I still woke up extremely tired.  One of those 'just wanna pull the covers up over my head and forget the world exists' kind of mornings.  Please tell me I'm not the only one who has mornings like that.  :/  I don't even remember what it's like to wake up ready for the day, feeling rested and awake.  I'm a total zombie in the mornings.  So needless to say, I am looking forward to going to Bozeman for the weekend tomorrow afternoon.  I have every intention of sleeping in on Saturday morning... and I'm not going to feel the least bit guilty about it.  I might even throw a nap in on Saturday afternoon, just because I can.  :)  I do get naps pretty regularly at home, but it's always on someone else's schedule.  I have to wake up either when Brielle decides I need to be up or as soon as Joshua wakes up.  I'm thinking it will feel wonderful to nap and wake up when MY body is darn well ready to be up.  Though with my luck it will end up being one of those days where I just can't seem to fall asleep and I toss and turn in frustration...

Anyway, how was my day today.  I had a bit of an on-again-off-again kind of day.  I'd be productive for a bit, then feel totally worn out and lie on the floor and try to doze play with the kids.  I did get my baked-on-sweet-potato mess cleaned up out of the oven, I'll do another post on that, because the cleaner I used was amazing, and easy!  It totally deserves a little attention, and I know I'm not the only one whose oven gets a bit grimy.

This morning we ate Dominican Oatmeal (recipe coming soon, it's soooo good!) and finished the creation story during our morning Bible time.  (I read while the kids eat breakfast.)  After breakfast, we all went and hung out in the kids bedroom and played.  Brielle got out some magnets and started putting all the animals on the land and sea, just like God did.  She was so funny.  It was a bit tricky trying to fit all her land animals on one page, but this was what she came up with:
Joshua got some blankets out of the closet and (in his normal fashion) put them over his head and proceeded to run around the room.  Thankfully he did manage to avoid running into the walls, today at least.  Then he mounted his trusty steed (thanks to Uncle Chris and Aunt Shevon) and galloped away.

Then Joshua decided to get all tangled up and play with the lacing cards.  He did surprisingly well poking the laces through the holes.  I'd hold it in place and turn it around so he could pull it through the other side.  That lasted about five minutes... then he just ran off with the pieces to play.  :)
They were entertained and happy, so I headed for the oven to get that cleaned out.  Joshua came out and entertained ME while I finished up.

Then he went to grab a bib off the counter.  It had 2 small notebooks on it, so I told him "No."   Did he listen?  Nope.  He tugged, pulling the bib and the notebooks down on his head.  He looked surprised for a second, then ran to me and started crying.  Every few seconds he'd glare at the notebooks and bib on the floor.  A minute later he got up, still sniffling, and put the notebooks and bib back on the counter before climbing back into my lap to finish crying.  I managed to get a roast into the crock pot, and clean up the kitchen a bit.

Brielle got out her fire truck puzzle, and we worked on that together at the table for a minute.  She finished, took it apart, and told me she needed help to do it again.  I told her I just knew she could do it on her own... and she did!  It took her a grand total of about 8 minutes, and boy was she proud of herself.

We put Joshua down for his nap a bit later than usual, and Brielle and I headed out to Costco, the post office, and Natural Grocers.  Since I'll have the car all weekend, I wanted to make sure my family wouldn't starve.  :)  Matthew had me put together a menu plan for him (which surprised me, I thought he'd want to just fix what sounded good to him) so I did that as well.  It's 8:45pm now, and I am past ready for bed.  Night night!

Update:  It is now almost 1am and I am still awake.  Why?  Because I was smart and took a probiotic at dinner time...  I've taken them twice before (gee, I remember this now) and they made me very queasy.  Well tonight it was more than queasy.  I've been on my knees in front of the toilet, vowing to never eat roast and potatoes ever again.  EVER.  My sweet husband has been in there holding my hair back.  He's pretty amazing.  So, now that my tummy hurts from dry-heaving I'm going to attempt to go to sleep... finally.  Ugh.  :/
